This band is dead, but my other band is alive and well. Check out the 3 song EP we released in January and maybe help us get it pressed on wax? We also have a new 2 song EP coming out soon.

Friday, May 26, 2017

This has been a thought of mine for a few months, honestly, since we released that self titled 7" in January. So, naturally, it's really weird to end this band; especially, because I've been doing it for three years, but it's time I laid it to rest. We were working on some new songs that I'll release the demos of eventually. However, I think right now, it's time for me to move on from ashala rock and focus on Home Poet Records and Tu dicis. I've always felt slightly uncomfortable in ashala rock. I've always been kind of a recluse with these songs and felt uncomfortable showing people these songs (not to say I'm not uncomfortable sharing tu dicis, but this band always felt way more nerve wracking). Anyways, for a brief history; I started writing stuff under this moniker in March 2014 about a month before my first band, Blind, broke up. Originally as a way to get out of the rut of writing 2 minutes skate punk songs. I learned a lot while doing this band and I believe I really honed my abilities, it evolved into my full time project. I recorded and wrote hundreds of songs for ashala rock. I met so many awesome people and I have made so many friends over the past three years. It's really weird to think that this band is going to be no more. We put out a handful of eps, a full length, a few splits, and we had songs on some comps. We also have a giant back catalog of stuff I don't care about anymore that I've taken off the internet forever. I'd like to thank everyone who took the time to listen to these songs, purchased these songs, helped me figure out what the hell I was doing, taught me things, or was just a good friend as I went through the writing/recording process of our full length. I spent a year on that record and there's still a lot I would change, but I think it is a good representation of the band. Anyways, I didn't want to get too sappy about this, but thank you to everyone involved in making this happen. Here's a select list of thank yous. If I forgot to mention you, give me crap in the comments and maybe I'll edit you in. Thank you so much, it's been great.

tu dicis.

Hey, my other band, Tu Dicis (messy screamo/skramz) was on a five way split with Eva ras, terror eyes, nepugia, and destined. We also put out a four song EP last month.

I absolutely loved recording these songs and thought anyone who was into ashala rock might wanna hear something a little bit different.

listen to a new song + preorders

Hi. We have a new EP coming out on March third. It's titled "It's dangerous to go alone" it's four songs long. Listen to a new song at the link here.

Track list:
1. Your eyes tell me secrets of ancient civilizations
2. I have no self control! There's your news story!
3. Stop, wait, what do you see?
4. I see everything and nothing all at the same time

Preorder the album digitally, physical preorders are still being determined. We don't know what kind of physical medium we want to do or if we even want to do one. Like usual, we'll keep you updated.

Lyrics for "Your eyes tell me secrets of ancient civilizations"
Brave the weather, it's so cold, prepare for winter
Your brother's army jacket wrapped tightly around your shoulders
Your father catching tears from your mothers eyes
As they draped the stripes and stars over the casket

Hey, this is my solo acoustic project. It's like ashala rock, but all acoustic and a little more experimental. I just put out this new album called Magnolia detailing a few different times of hopelessness I've experienced in the past four years. I really love doing this stuff, because it's so raw and simple and it's so easy to record where ashala rock can take up to a month to just record two songs, this takes a day to record a bunch.

If you're interested I made some CD's and I am distributing them through Home Poet Records here

Here's a little history about Molotov.
I started writing songs around Summer 2015 and recording an album called ...and the empire took over in September/October 2015. I released it and I really liked writing and recording stripped down acoustic songs.

In December I wrote a new EP, (available here) and released it on Christmas. It was four really different songs, we put out CD's for "and the empire.." and eventually I stopped writing and recorded for Molotov, so I could focus on ashala rock. However, in February I recorded a few new songs.

I recorded and released a two song EP in June called reptar attacks on interstate five. The two songs were one off songs I had left over from ashala rock.

In December (2016), I put out a discography release including "..and the empire took over," "yeah, i'm fine.." and the few songs I recorded in February. It did not include reptar attacks on interstate five.

Then in January, I put out Magnolia and I am looking for a label to release the album on cassette tape. If you're interested in releasing it, let me know!!

The future..

Our new 7" EP came out on December 30th listen to it here or preorder it on vinyl here.

Besides all of that new news, I wanted to take the time to talk about the future of the band. I've stated a few times that this 7" is going to be our last release for a while. That is because I want to focus on getting a bassist and drummer and pratice these songs, so we can play and stuff. All of that stuff a band is supposed to do. I also want a break from this for a while, so I can focus on school and running Home Poet Records. I'll still keep everything updated and I still make music, but I'm not going to be putting out anything new. If you would like, you can follow us here:

Thanks for everything!
